Use a mix for the color and additives that is especially designed for countertops or floors. Start by determining the dimensions you want the countertop to be. Use enough of the mix to fill the mold about halfway up the sides. Start with a 4 x 6 piece of 1 thick melamine particleboard.

The basics for making a concrete countertop are simply building your mold pouring and finishing the concrete. You will also want to use a pre mixed high strength concrete. There are several acceptable materials for building the form but we chose cheap and easily obtainable melamine coated particle board. The exception to this is the edges which often are made with a molded edge form available from a variety of sources or make your own rubber edge forms. The key to a great countertop is a well built mold to pour the concrete into.
